Virginia – The Best Place To Travel

When thinking of traveling in the 50 states, how do you decide on which is the best? If you think about art, government, culture, food, music, sports and entertainment, and mix them all together, one of the best places in all of the United States to consider is Virginia.

Since Virginia is one of the original 13 colonies, the whole state of Virginia is deeply rooted in American history. There are evidences of American history spread throughout the whole state. One such place is Thomas Jefferson’s estate Monticello. This is a beautiful property that you can explore either by tour or on your own. There are colonial style gardens and a beautiful library and estate to explore. You can see the kitchen where the slaves worked and the gardens where people relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful Virginia air.

If you travel a bit further, you can enjoy Alexandria and Arlington. There are many colonial houses and one house that is only as wide as a carriage. Rumor has it, one neighbor was tired of his neighbor parking his carriage in that spot, so he built a house there. Even though the house is only a few feet wide, someone lives there today! There are many colonial houses in Virginia and even old cobble stone roads that date back to the colonial days. Virginia is loaded with history.

Virginia, of course, is also glued to the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. If you are spending time in Virginia, you can easily get to Washington D.C. to see the monuments, museums, the Smithsonian, the mall, the White House, the Capital Building and any number of other historical buildings.

Not only is Virginia home to colonial history, it is also home to modern popular culture. Current musicians and artists are playing and displaying their work in Virginia. Virginia really is the best place to travel.
